What is Determinism Ratio?
Definition
The determinism ratio is the proportion of steps in a workflow that genuinely need a model rather than deterministic code. SUPALABS publishes it per engagement as part of the AI Boundary Map, which classifies every step as deterministic code, model judgement, or human approval. In one European manufacturer's order handling, three of eleven steps genuinely needed a model. The number is usually a minority, and it is at once a cost, latency and auditability argument: deterministic steps are cheaper, faster and easier to inspect.
