What is Mapping Sprint?

A Mapping Sprint is a paid five-day discovery engagement in which the people who will build the system work beside the operators doing the work, and produce the scope the build is then quoted from. It is the second rung of a four-stage ladder — free 30-minute qualification call, Mapping Sprint, fixed-price Build with the first workflow live in six weeks, then an ongoing monthly Run — and the client can stop after any rung. Discovery and build are one motion, run by the same people: pricing a build before the sprint means pricing a guess.
